One of the hottest topics of conversation of late was the utilisation of green bedding for dairy cows, offering substantial savings to the farmer and more importantly improving cow welfare. Cowcare systems were delighted to install an E10 screw press manufactured by Press Technology, offering dry matter content up to 42%. Firs farm have around 300 cows in milk and bed every day using Green Bedding, reducing their monthly outgoings by £1200. One fact that surprises many who visit such an installation is how clean the animals look, both their hide and more importantly their udder are spotlessly clean.

When Blair Drummond were looking to design and build the most advanced elephant habitat in the world they choose the 400w Agrilight with built in red LED night light as the best lighting option available to illuminate the building to 200 lux. The ability to mimic nature’s own light source, the sun was a key influence including how sunlight aids the absorbsion of Vitamin D which can be a problem in captive Elephants. With a few modifications to the control system we were able to mimic dusk and dawn with the lights staged in 6 banks. The red LED Night light proved a major success for 24hr CCTV monitoring of the Elephants. We have since completed the New Elephant habitat at Noah’s ark zoo near Bristol.

Cowcare Systems were delighted to be chosen as preferred supplier for Netherwood farms new milk robot housing project.

Here we installed 3 passages of our rope slurry scrapers, John reasons behind his decision was “ I simply need the most reliable system that the market can offer”. We also installed the Agrilight simulated daylight lighting system to aid in the reduction of fertility problems within the herd with the added bonus of increasing milk yield up to 14%. Finally a Jetwash footbath was installed to help in the fight against foot problems, cows use this bath every time they exit the robot station.
